Electric Start Conversion SR500

E-Starter-Kit 'XSTART' Basic Set complete with LiFePo4 Battery, incl. detailed illustrated instructions

The 'XSTART' includes a 1kW starter with alternator cover, adapters for the original magnet wheel, freewheel, drive chain and starter relay, all the necessary accessories and detailed, illustrated instructions for quick and easy installation.

A lithium battery pack (LiFePo4) replaces the existing vehicle battery. To ensure maximum battery pack life, we recommend the simultaneous use of a modern rectifier/charger regulator (item 41508) with precise voltage regulation. The original regulator of the SR500 measures the battery voltage via the ignition lock, therefore the battery charging voltage may be higher than the optimal value.

The starting current of the starter is 300A, with a peak current of 600A the 4S lithium battery has sufficient reserves. The temperature range of -20°C to +60°C is absolutely practical.

A new alternator cover gasket is of course included with every kit. A simple pole wheel counterholder is included, but for easier and damage-free mounting of the pole wheel adapter we recommend our counterholder item 20114. The magnet wheel does not have to be dismantled.

  • The battery of the electric starter should be charged using the charger supplied before starting up for the first time after the winter break
  • The decompression lever must be pulled for the first second of each starting process to avoid putting unnecessary strain on the battery
  • The electric starter is to be regarded as a starting aid instead of the kick-starter and cannot compensate for any other vehicle defects (e.g. faulty ignition system).

No, when using the starter, the position of the piston/camshaft is irrelevant.

Is it necessary to re-adjust the ignition when installing the XSTART kit?

No, the installation of the kit does not require any adjustment of the ignition, the pole wheel is not dismantled.

Is it necessary to pull the decompression lever when using the starter?

No, but it is recommended to reduce the power consumption of the starter motor and the battery.
