The HL orginally debuted in the 1977 500 GP's, being raced by two-time World Motocross champ Bengt Aberg, producing quite an uproar by scoring the first points for a four-stroke in the GP’s in a decade!
Nowadays, most HL rebuilds or replicas, are done so with "HL kit's". But, The Vintage Spoke, took this replica by the horns and had major design components hand-fabricated; rather than mass producing products. Modeling our replica build after the Hallman and Lundin HL.

The HL procurement time was approximately 3-4 months. But, and we think you'd agree, the time was well worth it. Sitting on our show room floor, perfectly still, this HL looks like the definition of power and freedom the 1970's brought us.
Our custom, powder-coated, design taking after the ProFab Husqavarna frame (available in two design colors; silver or mid-gloss black coating) weighs approx. 23 LBS It is fitted to a hand fabricated aluminum swing arm, with new brake lever, brake stay, needle bearings and two-position shock mounts for the 16.5 Ohlins "Piggyback" Shocks (While still available)!
The frame, amongst NEW aluminum sprockets, nuts, bolts...exc, is also escorted with NEW HL500 handlebars, levers, throttle and cables, mounted to YZ465 43mm Forks; restored with new seals and seal savers, as well as a YZ465 triple tree, which is upgraded with large taper bearings. Also, from the YZ models, are the front and rear hubs; mounted with NEW HL500 replica rims and stainless steel spokes; accompanied with Bridgestone X20 tires!
This HL500 replica features a Yamaha TT500 engine, with piston upgrade; Big Bore up to 90mm depending on customer requests (replacing 499cc to 540cc), big valve cylinder head, and detailing. A, restored, aluminum fuel tank; with new petcock, fuel cap, and check valve.
The build is also accompanied by, all new, billit-milled Megacycle Cam, enhanced performance valve spring kit, NOS valve rockers, and connecting rod. For maxiumum performance this HL is sported with dual oil lines (in stainless steel braided or black textile), a modified case (for shortened oil line pickup) with AN fitting, Roundslide TM (choice of 36mm-42mm) Mikuni carburetor, K&N Air filter, and custom exhaust!
The new number plate, side covers, front fender, and rear fender, are replicated exactly as OEM, but with industrial strength imbued-plastic; to enhance durability. The seat foam and seat cover are new and fitted to an original restored YZ seat pan base.
